There is a deficit in the field of athletics and sport psychology in the understanding of mental health concerns among collegiate coaches, particularly in high-profile sports such as football. Furthermore, there is little to no research about college football coaches' attitudes and beliefs regarding sport psychology. The purpose of this study is to develop a better understanding of college football coaches' attitudes about sport psychology. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) assistant football coaches. Data was analyzed using a Consensual Qualitative Research (CQR) methodology. This study's findings may have implications for practitioners' understanding of football coaches' current attitudes and beliefs about sport psychology as a performance enhancement tool and as a means to address mental health concerns of college football student-athletes. Additionally, the results may provide information for practitioners on how best to reach the underserved population of college football student-athletes.
