Caregivers are a growing population within society with a unique experience. Within this population, the focus is usually on the person receiving care than the caregiver; this lack of focus can impact the caregiver's health. Caregiver burden in the form of social, emotional, and physical stress can result in burnout which is a significant health risk resulting from their occupation. This decline in health hurts both caregivers and care receivers. This research study focused on primary caregivers to family members with Alzheimer's disease: Four caregivers who give care to mild/moderate stage individuals and one caregiver in late stage. Each meeting was conducted within a private and secluded setting in a location that was mutually agreed upon by both student researcher and research participant. The scribble drawing, draw a person in the rain directive, and mandala creations were utilized in tandem with the LACK-SRC scoring assessment to build a caregiver profile of each individual experience. Overall themes were gathered from the data and vignettes resulting from these meetings through a grounded theory approach within the research process. Themes gathered were change of controlled to less controlled media through the art process, feelings towards art/materials, and insight into the caregiving experience.
