The purpose of this qualitative action research case study was to observe and describe how new technologies; specifically, 'Augmented Reality', can be used as an educational enhancement in Anchorage, Alaska. The study used action research to examine learning, attitudes, behaviors, and productivity in the classroom as students used, Zooburst, a web-based, 3-Dimensional Augmented Reality (AR) storybook application for constructing their writing. This Action Research based case study and project implementation provides an example of implementing a Web 2.0 tool into the classroom to enhance learning, promote the social construction of knowledge, and improve the quality of education. This study also served to provide in-depth observation and reflections useful for improving professional teaching practices. Students' behaviors and experiences in the classroom were observed and recorded in the researcher's observation journal. This study found significant evidence supporting the positive impact of 21st Century technologies being leveraged into the classroom as an enhancement to learning.
