Nature as an agent of justice is essential to the Caribbean and its literature is acknowledged as providing a unique aesthetic character in its landscape. Absent theoretical frameworks addressing the archipelagic ecosystem and bioregions as reaping a balance of equities, we present an ecocritical approach and its deep ecology of jus naturale. Ecological activism on behalf of the Caribbean archetypal heroes also calls for the study of the geographic space within the world thus; geocriticism and geopolitics also come into play. Within Conde's literature, justice can be promoted and achieved as a collaborative effort between Nature and its Caribbean residents, as well as exert an influence within the global Caribbean. Nature, the character, reacts powerfully to the plot and influences the protagonist's mission. Under a critical perspective approach, this work analyzes Maryse Conde's fiction, specifically: Heremakhonon (1976); I, Tituba Black Witch of Salem (1986); Crossing the Mangrove (1995); Who Slashed Celanire's Throat? (2002); and The Story of the Cannibal Woman (2007). These novels exhibit Nature sustaining a symbiotic relationship with the protagonists, implacable when necessary to achieve fairness. It is the position of this exploration to discover Nature as more than just a setting, but a presence, a character, reacting and proacting to secure justice and a place of recognition within the Caribbean and the world. Conde is explored as a deep ecological advocate within Caribbean literature, wielding the ability to promote justice and the balancing of equities by natural forces.
