There is a need for supply chain managers to understand the benefits of collaboration as well as those benefits' relationship to performance. The purpose of this quantitative, nonexperimental, correlation study was to examine the linear relationship between supply chain collaboration of Distribution Advisory Council (DAC) members and on-time delivery performance in the supply chain. The specific research question was: What is the linear relationship between supply chain collaboration of DAC members and the on-time delivery performance of their companies? An online survey was used to measure supply chain collaboration and distributed it to the total known population of 384 commercial vehicle aftermarket associates in the DAC. The on-time delivery performance of the companies was obtained through archival data. Survey participants returned a total of 84 surveys, for a response rate of 22%. The results of the survey were compared to existing on-time delivery scorecard data. The results of a Pearson's correlation indicated that there was not a significant linear relationship between on-time delivery and supply chain collaboration; on-time delivery scores in the commercial vehicle aftermarket did not significantly correlate with supply chain collaboration in this quantitative nonexperimental correlation study. This study represented one geographical area, that is, the United States, and was exclusive to the commercial vehicle aftermarket. The findings of the study provide further opportunities for research in areas such as technological information exchange, communication mechanisms, trust, and collaboration as they relate to supply chain performance.
