The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of elementary principals' perceptions of instructional leadership to student performance. The principals' campus ratings were analyzed to see if a relationship existed between instructional leadership and student performance. Demographic variables were also examined for a relationship to instructional leadership tasks. Data were collected from a large urban school district in Texas. The Sources of Instructional Leadership Survey (SOIL) was collected from 43 elementary school principals. Data were obtained and compiled into Microsoft Excel to define and select the sample. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used for statistical analysis and visual representation. Quantitative statistics revealed there was not a significant difference of the engagement of instructional leadership tasks to campus ratings. The years of experience as a principal was significant to one factor of instructional leadership, this is categorized by Encourage Concern for Achievement. This study analyzed student performance to instructional leadership tasks by elementary principals. This research just analyzed campus ratings. Further research is necessary to continue the investigation of student performance to instructional leadership.
