The effects of internet usage on political engagement are still not completely understood. One of the main difficulties in previous studies is the treatment of the internet experience as a constant. This study treats the internet as a changing environment. These changes can explain the differences in effects found when studying different years. This study also focuses on how people consume news information. In addition to studying the delivery modes of news, this study through the usage of cross-lag regressions is able to discern the causal relationship between news consumption from a variety of mediums and political engagement.
