The desire to create financial independence or elevate from poverty encourages an individuals to start micro-enterprises. As a business progresses, the decision to adopt information communications technology (ICT) creates a competitive edge, however, the unawareness of the risks associated information technology (IT) tempts an unrecoverable disaster. The problem that exists is that there have been a lack of research involving micro-enterprises the intent to use IT disaster recovery planning, and it remains unclear why micro-entrepreneurs do not develop IT disaster recovery plans (De Mel, McKenzie, & Woodruff, 2012). The purpose of this qualitative single case study was to discover why micro-entrepreneurs are not creating IT recovery systems when reliance on computer systems is so crucial. Intent to use IT disaster recovery planning and it remains unclear why micro-entrepreneurs do not develop IT disaster recovery plans. Micro-entrepreneurs from the Augusta/Richmond county, Georgia and Columbia county Georgia area and working with a sample size of 20 will allow the researcher to devote sufficient time to analyze and report the finding located within the coded data.
