The banking industry has come under heavy scrutiny lately in regards to having the proper Anti-Money Laundering processes. This research purpose was to identify causes of the perceived issues, for developing better processes, so the pressure on the banking industry can lessen. The problems were identified as emanating from the banking industry being over penalized due to government entities demands, as well as expressed for the need of consumer demand for better services that would fit their desired needs.

520 $a Unfortunately, it was observed that this is a global problem, as various countries and institutions within those respective countries were reported to be struggling with providing the proper procedures necessary to solve many of these issues. As such this review gathered the necessary data that explained the problems, but also provided solutions to solve those issues plaguing the banking industry. These solutions were addressed as themes that identified the problems relating to policies; and recommendations for improvements to processes that if implemented can address these pertinent issues.
520 $a Some of these reoccurring themes include a thorough identification of the penalties that have been handed over the last few years, to understanding a collaborative effort is needed among the industry's stakeholders, to using such collaborative efforts so that stakeholders can benefit in their preferred manner, and solutions that could provide an alternative means of revenue for banks due to the implementation of the suggested solutions. There is not one approach for quick and easy resolution of these problems, but the review presents a step by step approach that can be implemented without extraneous demand.
