Thesis (Ph.D.)--Indiana State University, 2018.
The development of the college student is influenced inside and outside of the classroom. Research supports that the traditional college experience assists or influences the students' identities relating to moral development. More and more students are completing a portion of their course work online. Yet higher education experts are not aware of how this type of delivery impacts their moral development. In this study, Rest's Defining Issues Test 2 was used to compare the moral development of on-campus and online service learning students who were enrolled in general education and experiential learning courses. Overall findings indicate there is moral development growth in on-campus service-learning students. Exploring research opportunities to enhance online service learning is needed. Additionally, continued investigation regarding impact of social normatives effecting students moral development growth could enhance classroom content and moral development of students.
