The purpose of this research was to contribute to the body of knowledge with respect to the use of social networking in the workplace and its impact on team unity leading to team effectiveness. Previous research has shown that workplace teams that are united in purpose are far more effective than teams that are in disunity. This study sought to fill a gap in the literature by examining how the use of social networking impacts team unity. Team unity was measured by the use of the team climate inventory tool. Social networking in the workplace was measured by the use of the Moqbel social networking tool. Responses from 155 survey participants who had served as team members in technology companies provided data for this study. The SPSS program was used to determine correlations between social networking and team unity. The results of the analyses allowed for rejection of the null hypothesis, showing that social networking correlates with team unity.
