Thesis (D.M.)--University of Phoenix, 2017.
The purpose of this qualitative explanatory multiple case study was to explain the real world experience of employees in six high spiritual leadership organizations during high-pressure seasons, and examine the influence of spiritual leadership on organizational commitment, life satisfaction, and productivity despite industry pressures in those six small to mid-sized professional accounting (SMPA) firms in the United States. This case study used a Spiritual Leadership Qualifying survey to assess high levels of spiritual leadership, participants' written accounts of their most recent tax season, and semi-structured interviews applying a walk-through strategy to discuss those written descriptions to collect data. Upon the conclusion of data analysis, four primary themes emerged with the use of NVivo 11. The four themes were highly referenced traits of Altruistic Love during high-pressure seasons; highly referenced productivity during high-pressure seasons; work serves a purpose and team members are family members or perceived as family members; and employees of higher ranked SPL firms suggest they handle high-pressure seasons through having a balanced work-life (Life Satisfaction). The participants in the study, who were in the highest-ranking spiritual leadership firms, had firm leaders in the RAN ONE Americas, LLC Masters Program(TM). A recommendation for future research is to explore the experiences of employees whose leaders in the firms have been in this Masters Program(TM) for two or more years to understand spiritual leadership's influence specifically on employees' well-being.
