With low levels of physical activity being linked to 6% of deaths worldwide (WHO, 2014), a change is needed. Students enrolled in colleges and universities are in a point of transition and of change in their lives. This change has resulted in a decrease in physical activity as focus shifts to academics and as interest in physical activity decreases. An intervention was created to provide a possible alternative to becoming inactive. The intervention consisted of a number of physical activity activities that were incorporated as homework assignments for students enrolled in a college wide general education wellness course. The physical activities were designed to vary in intensity to meet the challenges often expressed by students including a lack of time or equipment. All activities were approximately 20 minutes in length and required little to no equipment perfect for completion in a residence hall room. The results were examined using a repeated measures ANOVA examining not only physical activity levels by also physical activity knowledge retention at three points over a 23 week period. Of the three problem statements examined only the main problem could be evaluated as a result of low participation rates in certain demographics. Examining physical activity rates between groups lead to no significant differences based on intervention or non-intervention group. Similar results were found when comparing the two groups regarding physical activity knowledge retention.
