This Qualitative Research explores the use of language by 3-5-year old children in multilingual homes. Research focused on children learning two languages simultaneously. Data was collected thru an online questionnaire (67 respondents) completed by parents of 116 children, followed by interviews with 5 subjects. Research confirmed the attrition of the home language in many instances, and confusion and substitution in vocabulary items. Children demonstrated selective vocabulary use and language switching according to situation and subject of conversation. Parents supported both first and second language learning through a variety of home interventions.
