Thesis (M.A.)--Regent University, 2017.
This thesis explores how differentiation based on the theory of the multiple intelligences can be utilized in the middle school theatre classroom. Differentiation is the modification of lessons to maximize the ability for students to be successful based on their learning styles and abilities. The multiple intelligences theory by Howard Gardner identifies nine areas of intelligences that expand the typical focus on linguistic and mathematical intelligence. The multiple intelligences identify the gifting in each child. By understanding the intelligences of students, teachers can modify lessons through content, process or product to utilize differentiation to allow students with varying abilities and learning styles to be successful in the theatre arts classroom. This thesis examines the differentiation, the multiple intelligences, and strategies to implement differentiation based on the multiple intelligences in middle school theatre arts classrooms.
