Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is an important organizational concept and business strategy that has yielded multiple benefits and advantages for businesses. In today's business climate, companies are increasingly taking steps toward considering their businesses' impact and relationship with the environment, its resources, and communities. Due to various factors, including globalization, organizations have been forced to rethink their business strategy and use CSR to meet stakeholder demands and reach triple bottom-line benefits.

CSR is a complex concept with multiple ways of defining, measuring, and implementing it. Previous research on CSR's impact at the individual level is limited with employee studies. Most of the existing research focused on the macrolevel of CSR's applicability to business. This applied research study focused on the individuals and their perceptions of CSR initiatives provided through their company. Organizational needs assessments were performed for two organizations: a global division of a beverage company and an online private academic institution, both located in Australia. The organizations were active in social responsibility and CSR was a part of their business strategy. A comprehensive review of the CSR literature provided various definitions and perspectives of CSR; an overview of the concepts, purpose, and benefits; how CSR influences employees; and its impact on employees' perceptions and attitudes toward the organization. Data for this study were obtained through an online survey questionnaire customized to assess four categories of employee's perceptions: awareness of CSR activities, feelings about CSR activities, support for CSR activities, and alignment of values with the organization. The data results were analyzed for each organization and then combined to identify overall employees' perceptions about CSR and needs pertinent to the organization.

The findings of this study provided evidence that CSR impacts employees' perceptions of attachment toward the organization, influencing employees' pride, commitment, support, engagement, and job satisfaction. Employees' attitudes and behaviors are directly and indirectly impacted through their organization's engagement in CSR. Communication in the organization surrounding CSR initiatives is extremely important. There are organizational benefits at the individual level, and in order to gain a deeper understanding, future research needs to be conducted at the employee level.
