Academics and athletics have been studied in the past and will be studied more in the future. There has not been a study conducted on this topic related to students who have an IEP or 504 service agreement for learning disabilities. This study compared the in-season and out-of-season GPA of these groups of students as well as the supports they utilized in both seasons. The purpose of this study was to answer the research questions that were related to the differences in GPA of student-athletes in-season versus out-of-season by grade, season, IEP, 504, gender, supports, and academic motivation. A survey was given to the 32 student-athletes who agreed to the study related to the research questions. An additional 11 students agreed to have only their GPA used in the data for the study.

Through a quantitative comparative analysis of the data, it was determined that there no statistical significant difference between GPA and in-season and out-of-season regarding this student population. Through a comparative analysis of 43 student-athletes, there were differences in GPA in many areas, but they were not statistically significant. There were also differences in supports used by the 32 student-athletes, but they were not statistically significant.
