Thesis (M.S.)--University of Louisiana at Lafayette, 2017.
This thesis examined the association of salary, experience, and revenue on the on-field performance of NCAA football programs. The purpose of this study was twofold: (a) to examine the association between salary, experience, and expenses on on-field performance, and (b) to predict the winning percentage based on salary, experience, and program expenses. The programs examined in this study included 111 teams for football bowl subdivision school in 2016. This study used descriptive, non-parametric correlation, and predictive statistics to examine measurement variables. The measurement variables included on-field performance as a binary dependent variable. The independent variables included salary, experience, and revenue. The results of the non-parametric correlation using Kendall's Tau showed a significant probability levels with weak to moderate relationship. The results of the predictive analysis using nominal logistic regression showed salary and experience as significant predictors. The strength of the test statistic was also weak. The study concluded that the predictive model can be further developed to improve the overall effect of the model.
