Research has shown that entrepreneurs help society by creating change through the formation and management of companies that create, manufacture, distribute, and sell products or services. Entrepreneurial businesses provide job opportunities that stimulate the economy and provide society with products and services that satisfy needs. Research has also shown that work-life balance motivates individuals to pursue entrepreneurial activities. However, the literature has a gap associated with the relationship between an entrepreneur's work-life balance and the entrepreneurs' personal characteristics; business characteristics; and home, work, and other activities/responsibilities. This study examined the relationship between the entrepreneur's work, family, and non-work/non-family activities/responsibilities and the entrepreneur's work-life balance. The data was analyzed using hierarchical multiple linear regression, with the first model including only the control variables age and commute time, the second model added the control variables support of another adult and number of years previous experience, the third model added the remaining control variables and the independent variables (education, number of employees, gender, number and age of children or elderly persons for which the entrepreneur provides care, hours worked, hours spent on other activities, and number of months in the current entrepreneurial endeavor). Results indicated that only Age, Entrepreneur's Commute Time in Minutes, and Support of Another Adult within the Entrepreneur's Household were significant predictors of the entrepreneur's Work-Life-Interface-Factor Index. These findings will help scholars understand how the two-factor theory and resource dependence theory work together to explain the work-life balance of entrepreneurs and will guide entrepreneurs in establishing strategies for managing work-life balance.
