520 $a The project director set out on a journey of personal discovery. He believed a clearer understanding of self would alleviate possible mistakes in selecting a new place to serve. The project director sought to discover a means to help in the activity of accepting the call to a new church, and therefore started with the process of clarifying his strengths, gifts, and abilities. The project director facilitated the pursuit by taking the LifeWay Spiritual Gifts test, Insight, Myers Brigg Type Inventory, and Gallup Strengths Finder. The need to clarify his personal makeup and strengths to provide applicable information to aid in the selection of the most appropriate church setting. He analyzed prominent literature on the topics of pastoral leadership and secular leadership. He examined key Scriptures regarding spiritual gifts, prayer, and church leadership. Furthermore, he engaged a panel of pastors to help him determine appropriate questions to ask of a prospective church.

The project director determined the ability to know one's self, one's strengths, gifts, and capabilities of vital importance. The recognition of his strengths and weaknesses should serve him well to make an informed decision as he interviews with new churches in the future.
