The issues of attrition and retention of teachers are long standing in the educational setting. Previous research in the educational arena indicates an increase in the number of teachers who decide to leave the teaching profession. Knowing the severity of the issues associated with poor teacher retention highlight the necessity to conduct this research regarding teachers' job satisfaction and retention factors. From the perspective of a career-switcher in the career and technical education setting, the research describes the teaching job satisfaction and retention factors that influence career-switchers' decision to remain in the teaching profession. A mixed-methods study by applying convergent parallel design was the methodology of the research. Using the Qualtrics, online survey application and structuring both quantitative and qualitative questions in a single design were used. The population of the study involved 2607 teachers under the purview of Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education (ODCTE). The total number of completed survey is 581 after three e-mail reminders were sent. From 581 participants, the number of career-switchers is at 272. Multiple linear regression indicated five factors were found significant with career-switchers' retention plan: salary, teaching resources, teaching support, motivation, and teacher job satisfaction. A qualitative analysis was divided into two sections. The first section was the reason for career-switchers to remain in the teaching profession. Three themes were developed: passionate in making a difference of students, teaching as a compassionate job, and teaching as a chosen occupation. When career-switchers were asked questions associated with their job satisfaction, eight themes were emerged from the second section of data transcription analysis: the career-switcher and student relationship, teaching as a job satisfaction factor, understanding teaching as challenging work, students' commitment to learn, perceptions on teaching job, administrative responsibility toward career-switcher satisfaction, school issues, and student success and accomplishment. Data triangulation from the convergent parallel design described the inter-relationship between quantitative and qualitative outcomes composed the overall reason for career-switchers' decision to remain in teaching. The findings of the analysis conjecture integral job satisfaction and retention factors to not only retain career-switcher in teaching but also enjoy the profession.
