Thesis (M.A.)--California State University, Long Beach, 2011.
The purpose of this qualitative research study was to explore the factors that contribute to successful art museum programming in terms of accessibility and outreach. El Museo del Barrio was researched in the form of a case study because it has programs that have been conducted for an extensive amount of time. This study may be able to provide best practices to art museums and art organizations that are committed to accessibility and outreach programs. Qualitative findings reveal six themes that assist with the development of successful programming at El Museo del Barrio. Findings from this study can be used to benefit future programming at similar institutions.
