Thesis (M.A.S.E.)--Caldwell College, 2017.
Readers Theater is a method of repeatedly reading scripts with peers in order to improve fluency. In this study, Readers Theater was used as an instructional approach to motivate students with disabilities to read scripts multiple times in small groups with the focus on reading with expression. Three methods of data collection were used in this study: pre and post fluency assessments, a 4-point Likert Scale survey, and student interviews. At the conclusion of this study, post-fluency assessments revealed that most students had improved their reading accuracy and all students increased in words per minute. In addition, all students indicated that they would like to continue utilizing Readers Theater. Therefore, Readers Theater may have been one factor that motivated these special education students to read more fluently.
