Thesis (M.A.)--State University of New York at Buffalo, 2016.
What is power? Where does it come from? What is its relation to knowledge, and how are these concepts used towards the purposes of control? This study investigates these questions, first in a critical essay and then in a creative section, in the form of a film script. Whereas the essay serves as a scholarly investigation into Foucault's beliefs regarding knowledge, power, and control, the script serves as an ideological manifestation of these concepts, while continuing to investigate the implications of his insights. In addition, both seek to address how circumstances have changed since the time Foucault presented these ideas, as well as how they're not only still relevant, but also increasingly problematic, today. In doing so, it seeks to explore the relationship between the media and knowledge/power and control, and the possibilities that lie within.
