The goal or this project was to present a methodology to determine when and how to perform an internal intervention. The paper begins with a review of literature that defined the consultation models. This project contrasted internal and external consultants in the field of OD and reviews the concepts of the leader as the interventionist. The literature review then explains the different phases of an intervention with various approaches to determining the problem. Based on the information that emerged, a model was created to provide a decision tree to guide an organization through an intervention from start to finish. This guide may be used by either internal or external consultants; including change leaders.
