Thesis (M.A.T.)--The University of Texas at Dallas, 2016.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of inclusion on the mathematical academic performances of students with and without special needs. This study was completed in the form of a meta-analysis by completing a literature review of published peer-reviewed articles, published dissertations and theses. After reviewing ninety-five studies, a total of fourteen studies were included as these studies fully met the inclusion criteria. A statistical analysis was conducted on these fourteen studies in which the researcher was seeking to find positive or negative effects of inclusion. Effect size calculations, tests of heterogeneity and descriptive statistics were all computed and analyzed to form results to the research question. Results of this meta-analysis indicated positive effects of inclusion for both students with and without special needs. Although results were statistically analyzed, large or strong conclusions cannot be made due to the studies being small in number and highly heterogeneous.
