In the realm of radiation therapy, there is a need to address the growing global cancer burden. Although current innovations are focused on more specialized devices and treatments, a novel device is proposed to address this cancer burden. The Simple XRT device is a self-shielded 6 MV linear accelerator system that utilizes diagnostic quality fan beam CT image guidance. This system is estimated to cost under 1 million USD, can treat above 90% of cancer indications, and only requires minimal room shielding. The versatility and low cost of the device makes it an ideal system to address the global inequity in radiation therapy resources.
