Thesis (D.I.S.)--Fuller Theological Seminary, School of Intercultural Studies, 2016.
New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) leaders who had Divine encounters they perceived as powerful, subsequently experienced catalytic life shifts, spiritually-empowered leadership and more gifted ministry. Apostolic Network of Global Awakening (ANGA) leaders, an NAR subgroup, share their Divine encounter experiences and reveal characteristics, precipitating factors and the influences that radically altered and equipped them to engage in power ministry. I present my dissertation material through a NAR missiological lens, illustrating by means of biblical, historical and contemporary leaders' biographical accounts regarding how their lives are empowered by the Holy Spirit.

I used key information specialists, interview and focus group methodologies to contribute senior ministry leaders' case study data by ANGA leaders who experienced Divine and power encounters. I used J. Robert Clinton's Leadership Emergence Theory (LET) to discern how Divine encounters shaped their leadership emergence and development (2012). Sandy Kirk's (1999) revival analysis tool provided an objective analysis construct for my research about Divine encounter experiences and helped catalog characteristics across affective, cognitive and behavioral arenas. These tools illuminate ANGA leaders' Divine encounter characteristics to better gauge transformative and lasting effects upon their development and ministries. I compare my findings with Tom Jones' pioneering research about life-shaping Divine encounters (Jones 2013).

My findings address a gap in North American scholarly literature about life-changing Divine encounters. I discuss how these transformative Divine encounters can be an effective response to the needs of our postmodern generation and an effectual bridge to repair and respond to this largely missing link in leadership development throughout North America. Jones' findings revealed ANGA leaders who have Divine encounter experiences are more effective, fruitful, committed, and fulfilled with a clarity of ministry focus than they had experienced before (Jones 2013, v). I provide deeper insights into Jones' findings about the patterns of leadership emergence, power ministry development and Divine encounter characteristics. Based on my findings I have developed materials for a small group introduction to experiencing and understanding God's work through transformative Divine encounters.
