Thesis (M.S.)--University of Houston-Clear Lake, 1993.
The significant increase in the minority population in the United States is reflected in the school system with an increase in the number of minority students. Facing the challenge of cultural diversity in the classroom, teachers should be sensitive to the learning styles of all students because learning style has been thought of as an important variable in the academic success or failure of ethnic minorities in this country. This study investigated the differences in learning styles among Chinese American, Anglo American and Hispanic American students in elementary third and fourth grades. Ninety students were randomly selected to complete the Learning Style Inventory questionnaire by Dunn, Dunn and Price. There are some differences among the three ethnic groups. Discussion emphasized how the cultures influence the learning styles and how teachers and parents can apply the results of this research.Subjects--Topical Terms:
