Thesis (D.M.)--Colorado Technical University, 2016.
As with any enterprise, people are the pulse of an organization, which is why the strategic management of human capital is an absolute necessity for an organization's longevity. A critical aspect of strategic management of human capital is diversity management. The lack of diversity in student enrollment at the National Intelligence University is a small representation of the greater federal government, which also faces diversity management challenges. Without properly managing the systemic issues that impact diversity in intelligence academia, the U.S. intelligence discipline will suffer from lack of growth, potentially impacting the Nation whom it is designed to support. The purpose of this qualitative study is to explore diversity management within the Intelligence Community by examining the underrepresentation of African American students at the National Intelligence University---"the Intelligence Community's sole accredited, federal degree-granting institution" (National Intelligence University, 2015a). The exploration of the topic provides greater insight into the diversity challenges of the Intelligence Community at large.
