In this dissertation, three key topics are addressed. First, the effect of offshore wind power projects on a respondent's beach experience is analyzed. Since there are currently no offshore wind power projects in the United States, a contingent behavior approach was necessary. Using simulations of an offshore wind power project, respondents were shown panoramic scenes of the projects at 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15 and 20 miles from shore. 53% of respondents report their beach experience was worsened when the turbines were located 2.5 miles offshore. This percentage falls as the projects are moved farther from the coast -- 48%, 38%, 29%, 20%, 16% and 10% of respondents found their beach experience worsened when the projects were at 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15 and 20 miles from shore, respectively.

Secondly, using a random effects logit model, the trip change rates among beachgoers in the region were estimated as the turbines distance from shore increased. Trip change rates increase the closer the offshore wind power projects are to the shore. 27% of beachgoers said they would change their trip to that beach when the turbines were 2.5 miles offshore. 21%, 13%, 11%, 6%, 4% and 4% of beachgoers said they would change their beach trips when the projects were at 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15 and 20 miles from shore, respectively.

Lastly, using a logistic regression, the likelihood of respondents taking a special trip just to see the offshore wind power projects was investigated. On average, 10% of respondents would take a special trip to see the projects.
