Thesis (M.A.)--Fashion Institute of Technology, State University of New York, 2015.
The appeal of the bonfire is primal and irresistible. It fuels the night, brightens spirits, and fosters connections between those in the circle around it. The subject of this research is whether the bonfire's gravitational pull can be a source for defining the ways in which collaborative visitor communication within an exhibition is enhanced. To make those ways explicit, the bonfire's magic was scrutinized, the relevant case studies were analyzed, and two interviews were conducted, including one with the organizer of major drum circle communities. The summation of the research-based data turned into an outline for the creation of an exhibition design project that would adopt and highlight the psychological, physical, and semiotic idiosyncrasies of the bonfire.
