Thesis (Psy.D.)--Regent University, 2010.
There is a significant population of children with the diagnosis attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (AD/HD). As a result, there are a considerable number of children with AD/HD participating in the youth ministries of the local churches. The purpose of this project is to train youth workers to effectively provide services to young people with AD/HD. The results of the preliminary literature search were concerning. While there was an abundance of information on strategies for interacting with young people and adolescents with AD/HD in the classroom in the education literature and an abundance of clinical literature on AD/HD in the psychology literature, there was virtually nothing written for the youth worker. While this dissertation was written specifically to train church youth workers, the material would be appropriate for anyone working with groups of young people outside of the classroom setting (i.e. scout leaders, camp directors).
