Thesis (M.A.)--Sotheby's Institute of Art - New York, 2015.
This thesis examines the evolution of contemporary Internet art within the post-Internet era, and through a series of case studies explores the current market for digital art. By initiating a discussion on the development of early net.art and a comparison between the character of the digital art community of the 1990s and early 2000s with today's Internet artists, this thesis intends to provide a critical analysis on how contemporary Internet artists have made a conceptual break with the past, allowing what was once an anti-institutional, anti-commodity art form to now eagerly participate in today's market and achieve emergent financial success.
