Thesis (M.S.Ed.)--Western Illinois University, 2016.
In this action research study, a group contingency intervention was implemented in a Midwestern middle school self-contained EBD classroom to improve student on-task behavior. Data collected during this action research maintained through a daily check-in/check-out sheet, referral documents, and daily point sheets. The timeline of the study included 10 weeks or research. The results indicated increased assignment completion and time spent in class, in addition the number of referrals decreased. More time was available for academic instruction and less time spent on behavior management. The use of a group contingency intervention in a self-contained emotional and behavior disorder classroom had a positive impact on students' on-task behavior.
