The purpose of this study was to determine the types of hydration programs being used by athletic departments at National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I, II, & III universities. Data collection was conducted through a survey that was submitted through the National Athletic Trainers Association mailing list to certified athletic trainers identified as working at the collegiate level. The data was analyzed by using the Tri--Squared Test.

Participants consisted of 116 athletic trainers working at NCAA Division I, II, & III universities. Data results showed that 47% of the programs indicated not having a hydration program in place. In 71% of the programs surveyed, there is not a special hydration program in place for athletes with SCT. Data indicates that 81% of the respondents indicated educating athletes on proper hydration, but 84% of those surveyed indicated that athletes are not tested for proper hydration before participation.
