Thesis (M.S.)--Eastern Oregon University, 2016.
The purpose of this study was to examine the reading motivation of fourth grade students in a small rural town, and how choice affected their motivation. After administering the Motivation to Read Profile (MRP) survey, observing free choice reading time, and interviewing students, it became clear that choice does in fact play a positive role in the amount of motivation children have to read, but time for reading also presented itself as an important factor in reading motivation.
