The entrepreneurial activities of women residing in Westernized societies have been studied for three decades. However, few studies have explored the entrepreneurial experiences and challenges of women in emerging and developing economies. Three critical ideas are examined in this research study. First, what are the intrapersonal experiences of women entrepreneurs who engage in guest house businesses in Khayelitsha Township, South Africa? Second, what are the interpersonal experiences of women guest house entrepreneurs in Khayelitsha Township, South Africa? And last, what psycho-social conditions may influence the business decisions and outcomes of women guest house entrepreneurs in Khayelitsha Township, South Africa? The purpose of this single case research study was to explore and understand the intrapersonal and interpersonal experiences of women guest house entrepreneurs in Khayelitsha Township, South Africa and how the psychosocial conditioning of women may affect business start-up, maintenance and growth. Themes related to each of the research questions were presented along with implications and recommendations for future studies.
