Thesis (M.S.)--Eastern Oregon University, 2015.
This paper presents from findings of quality case studies and research concerning parents raising a bilingual child at home from infant to toddler. Included are the preschool communication modeling by two parents of different native tongues in the United States of America with relatives in Thailand, mixed cultures, and immersion practices. This paper address the benefits and reasons behind teaching a child to be bilingual, discussed the most effective means for accomplishing this task; and relates personal observation to both. All synthesized research indicates the importance of immersion and as such this paper concludes the same. Dual immersion in both languages and proper modeling of each on a constant schedule are the keys to raising a child to be bilingual. However this study is able to be adaptive for multilingual children.
