Transactional (contingent reward [CR]) and transformational (inspirational motivation [IM] and idealized behaviors [IB]) leadership behaviors were combined to create a hybrid leadership style. Behaviors of healthcare recruitment leaders were then examined to determine if either the hybrid leadership style or individual behaviors could significantly predict effective performance of healthcare recruitment leaders (HRLs). The MLQ 5X short form (rater only) was distributed by a third party organization, mindgarden.com, via an emailed link. Informed consent forms and debriefing information were also provided to all participants. Completed surveys were returned and made available for data analysis. Analysis was completed using regression stepwise method. Data revealed that CR alone was able to significantly predict the criterion variable. The transformational leadership behaviors (IM and IB) were not found to be significant predictors of the criterion variable. Findings also suggested that additional behaviors within the full range of leadership behaviors may help to better predict effective HRL performance.
