Lore Refreshed: Contemporary Texan Life as Depicted in Folk Tales is a thesis which contains an introductory essay, a collection of five short stories and a bibliography. The introductory essay outlines: 1) Why a creative thesis was undertaken, 2) The literary context and aesthetic of the five short stories, and 3) What is hoped to be accomplished through this work. The essay discusses the history and common traits of folk tales, specifically fairy tales and ghost stories, while the collection of stories attempts to examine modern life in Texas using the recognizable traits of the genre.
