Awareness of the environmental crisis will decrease the destruction of the environment in Taiwan. By studying American environmental history, the people of Taiwan will learn how Americans deal with their environmental problems.

There are many topics related to environmental issues in Taiwanese textbooks, but environmental issues are seldom discussed. It is time to add environmental issues to Taiwanese textbooks.

The theme of the environmental history course should be human interactions with nature. Also, the building of habits of the mind will help students to understand the significance of the past to their lives. It will help students to understand how things happen, how things change, how human intentions matter, and to understand the relationship between geography and history as a matrix of time and place, and as a context for events.
