The purpose of the project was to partner with a local host agency, locate a potential funding source and write a grant to obtain funding for a wellness program to decrease burnout among mental health professionals. The proposed Balance, Longevity, Inspiration, Self-Care and Stability (BLISS) program will assist mental health professionals to gain more education and awareness about burnout as well as to learn coping strategies that can be utilized to prevent and combat burnout. A literature review was conducted in order to examine the causes of burnout, the consequences of burnout and previous prevention and intervention strategies used to address burnout. This program will be applied in ChildNet Youth and Family Services, Inc. in Long Beach, California and will assist mental health professionals in providing more consistent, quality care to their clients through the decrease in levels of burnout. The funding source chosen for this program was the Weingart Foundation. The actual submission or funding of this grant was not a requirement for the successful completion of this project.
