Thesis (M.Plan.)--University of Wyoming, 2014.
A scenario planning process was developed to incorporate climate change in uncertainty into National Park Service wilderness planning. Current wilderness management strategies were identified and scenario planning strategy was developed to incorporate relevant laws and policies. Five steps were developed to integrate current laws and policies. The steps are: defining the purpose and desired outcomes of the process, collecting information about the system's structure and major drivers of change, generating the scenarios, develop management strategies, creating or testing policies. The process was applied to the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Memorial Parkway for the development of a trails management plan in the potential wilderness of the area. Scenario planning can be a useful tool depending on data availability, park resources, and time.
