Expanded polystyrene (EPS) geofoam is the term used to describe EPS foam employed in many geotechnical applications. Even though its versatility, worldwide technology advancement has been inefficient publishing contradictory mechanical property values among investigators and regulatory entities. The purpose of this investigation is to measure the mechanical properties on EPS geofoam specimens and see how they compare with empirical, historical and standard values. The task was completed by performing unconfined compression tests, using empirical equations and mechanical properties values enforced by the entities. Finally, sound recommendations regarding to property values are presented and explained.
