There seem to exist few empirical research studies that have looked at the association between the dimensions of listening and employees' affective organizational commitment in organizations (Matin, Jandaghi, Karimi, & Hamidizadeh, 2010; Sikorska-Simmons, 2005). A thorough literature review has demonstrated that the relationship between leader listening and employee organizational commitment has received relatively little research attention (Bodie, Janusik, & Valikoski, 2008; Ellis, 2004; Belcher & Johnson, 1998; Renneaker, 2008). Turnover ranks the highest in the leisure and hospitality industry according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (2014). Organizational commitment has been identified as a predictor of turnover intention (Benjamin, 2012). This quantitative study explored whether perceived leader listening predicts employees' affective organizational commitment within the leisure and hospitality industry in Central Florida. The sample included 65 employees within the hotel industry in the county of Brevard within Central Florida. The multiple regression analysis indicated that there was no significant association between the dimensions of perceived leader listening as measured by the Listening Practice Feedback Report (LPFR) and employees' affective commitment. The results of this study can lead to further exploration of the listening behaviors of managers and how those behaviors may be related to positive employee outcomes in organizations.
