The purpose of this study was to determine whether a significant awareness existed between teachers' knowledge of Gardner's (1999) MI theory and the implementation of MI techniques in the classroom. The components of this study included: (a) how teachers interpreted MI strategies, (b) how teachers understood the MI theory, (c) how teachers implemented MI strategies in the classroom, and (d) how teachers would continue to use MI strategies in the future. Data derived from participant interviews, surveys, and observations, concluded that students in classrooms where the MI techniques were implemented showed an increase in excitability for the subject matter being taught in the classroom. When teachers differentiated instruction and aligned the lesson objectives with the student's individual strengths in MI, students portrayed an increase in retention of content area information and a high interest for the content being taught.
