The purpose of this qualitative case study is to examine the rich descriptions provided by former adjudicated youth of their educational experiences. The case study focused specifically on the descriptions provided by participants who were adjudicated as youth and sent to a placement facility. For this qualitative case study, the researcher used semi-structured interviews and observation field notes. Although the research was limited to one specific population, the interviews provided valuable insights to how the former adjudicated youth viewed their pre-adjudication educational experiences. One significant finding of the study was the reporting of bullying. Bullying was raised as a significant pre-adjudication experience in 100% of the participants. While every participant reported being bullied, none reported engaging in bullying themselves. This finding has some potential significance for future studies related to classroom environments and methodologies.
