This action research study examined the effect that implementation of professional development had on improving the self-efficacy of teachers at a middle school. The participants in the study were middle school teachers who were not feeling confident in the areas of teaching reading. Teachers in every state are required to participate in several hours of professional development in order to keep their certification up-to-date and to stay on top of the new learning trends. The study examined the teachers' perceived self-efficacy both before and after the professional development implementation and the use of some learned strategies in hopes of answering the research question, how and to what extent will the implementation of professional development on RTI reading improve the teachers' self-efficacy at a middle school? The qualitative data was gathered from pre and post semi-structured interviews, observations, focus group discussions on the teachers' perceptions of the professional development, and the teachers' reflections of their feelings before and after the implementation.
