The purpose of this action research study was to evaluate a problem-based learning intervention to improve student motivation, critical thinking skills, and overall learning in the School of Business at a career college. With the pursuit of Higher Learning Commission accreditation, the college needed to improve its direct and indirect assessment methods of business students with the objective of improving student learning. In order to accomplish this goal, a problem-based learning intervention was designed and incorporated in a course at the research site. The implications of the results and findings of this study concluded that the incorporation of problem-based learning did improve student motivation, critical thinking skills, and overall student learning.
